Micro Blogs

A micro blog is a blog that only allows a very limited number of characters to be posted.

Twitter, Jaiku and Pownce are new web developments and can be very useful.

For example, once you are adept online and make contacts from all over the globe you may decide to collaborate on a project. Using a microblog to let your collaborators know where you are in the process of completing your work is handy.

Be aware that people can use microblogs the way they use blogs. They can sell ideas and get you interested. You can use them to link to yourself or to other information.

There are already stars of the microblogging world and as you explore the venues you may find that you choose to follow the comings and goings of people you have never met.

It can be a neat way to gage the zeitgeist of a group of people.

I use Twitter and have found it very useful. It can be embedded (displayed) on your blog or other website including Facebook. This is handy because when you update your Twitter, the update immediately goes to all of the places you choose to display it.
