Money

Almost all banks have sites that you can access your accounts through. Many people do all their banking online.

Almost all bills have an option that allows you to pay online. Read your statements to find out more information.

There are special services like PayPal that allow you to use checks to buy things online instead of credit cards.

Research the sites to make sure they are secure to your satisfaction. The BBB has a site to do that.

E-Commerce saves paper, postage and time. Some places actually charge for you to use online payment systems. I think this is ridiculous. It saves a company money for you to pay them online and they get their money faster. It is simply rude of a company to charge you for saving them!

While it is good to be cautious about giving your financial information to anyone, it is not necessary to be paranoid. Identity theft can happen even if you never buy anything online.

Relax. Investigate and don’t blow it all in one place.

Charities

Most every known charity has a web site. You can donate there. You will get your receipt for tax purposes online in email.

Tip Jars

Individuals often put virtual tip jars on their web pages so that you can donate to them personally. If you like the content you get from a site, donating to them can be a nice thing to do.

However, be wary of those who do not offer you anything for your money. Virtual beggars exist and they can play on your sympathies to get your money.

Use your best judgment and do not give to people if they do not use a secure service to transfer funds. Tip Jars are, to my knowledge, not tax deductible but you should receive some kind of receipt statement in your email.
